The Windfloat Project
The Windfloat Project promoted by Windplus, a joint venture including
companies such as Principal Power and EDP Inovação, among others, that aims
at testing a floating wind turbine designed for the deep offshore. A pilot
device has been deployed at Aguçadoura, Póvoa de Varzim, off the West Coast
of Portugal.
Within this project, the environmental performance of this floating device is being studied. The underwater noise is one of the environmental descriptors under study during 2013. The study aims at the characterisation of the noise produced during the operation of the floating turbine, whereas three campaigns for field data will be conducted over different seasons.
The Wave Energy Centre is responsible for carrying out this study. MarSensing is supporting the conduction of this study as a consultant in Underwater Noise.

O Projecto Windfloat é promovido pela Windplus, um consórcio formado pela
Principal Power e EDP Inovação, entre outras, o qual tem como objectivo
testar uma turbina eólica flutuante concebida para o offshore de águas
fundas. Foi instalado um dispositivo piloto na Aguçadoura, Póvoa de Varzim,
na Costa Oeste de Portugal.
No âmbito deste projecto, está em estudo o desempenho ambiental deste dispositivo flutuante. O ruído subaquático é um dos descritores ambientais a estudar durante o ano de 2013. O estudo tem como objectivo caracterizar o ruído subaquático introduzido no meio marinho através da operação da turbina flutuante, para o qual terão lugar três campanhas para a aquisição de dados acústicos em estações do ano diferentes.
O Centro de Energia das Ondas é responsável por levar a cabo este estudo, com o apoio de consultadoria em Ruído Subaquático da MarSensing.
